I am posting in different places across the internet, because as a former employee I want people to know the truth about this place. The union president, Gloria Larrondo, is married to Harry Binder. This is all you need to know about how the company treats its employees. They are extremely underpaid, the benefits are a joke, employees are routinely shouted at in public, the company spies on everyone with cameras everywhere, it docks pay when you're even a minute late, and it arguably breaks multiple labor laws, especially as it regards overtime pay.

If you are a potential or current client, please be aware that we are instructed to lie to you. If you ever call us up you will only ever hear employees use the word "advocate." This is because we are instructed to do this, so that clients are not aware that they are not being represented by an actual lawyer. Now, for the record, in my experience, the non-attorney reps are often very smart, good people (and underpaid, and overworked, even compared to the pay they would receive at pro-bono non-profit services like the Legal Aid Society. And bear in mind Binder & Binder is a for-profit company that makes Charles Binder alone more than 20 million a year). Personally, if it was my livelihood on the line, I actually would trust them more than the head attorney reps at the firm, one of whom is well-known for rising the ranks in the company originally as a young lawyer by opening her legs for the aging judges to see. With that said: why are we then instructed to lie to you? My only guess is that the company does not respect the intelligence of its clients well enough to think that it can explain the difference, so lying is easier.

Additionally, I have seen countless files that were not worked on for many months, even a courtesy call to the claimant (there are so many times when we realized that no one had spoken to a client in more than a year), only to be plopped on mine or someone else's desk and we have to fix everything somehow. Files just get passed around. Vital medical records don't get requested until the last minute, sometimes even after the hearing when the representative FINALLY thinks to request them. We would keep all the information in worklogs, but the over-worked caseworkers often do not see the requests for months. Most of an advocate's time is spent fixing everything that went wrong before the file got to them. The writers are tasked with phone calls to clients in which they are instructed to lie as above, and often have NO information on the file so are unable to answer detailed questions. Training is almost non-existent. In short, Binder's business model is based on quantity, and NOT quality; they've analyzed the win-loss ratios for disability cases generally, and made the calculation that they will win roughly that many cases no matter what they do, so their efforts are predominantly put into advertising (the company spends more than 20 million per year on advertising) and trying to sucker as many clients as they can into signing up. Because the company will literally take ANYONE, we got incalculable numbers of cases that were just total garbage, some where it was plainly obvious even to us that the claimant was not only lying but had no chance of winning, and those cases got equal amounts of time put into them as the cases where the person was really, truly disabled and needed the help.

You could literally not do worse than Binder & Binder. It is one of the most corrupt, evil companies I have ever encountered, and they do not care about you. Please, if you are a disabled person who needs the help, do some research and find some non-profits, or at the very least a more reputable firm than this one.

I just dumped Eric ***** Atty's for similar reasons. For the $6,000 they get, we're not going to get top-tier representation and will get lies, ignored for weeks and an incompetent clerk screwing up your case with SSA so you cannot access your own file online (my story).

If you can recommend a firm that has an office in NYC or LI that practices within ethical boundaries, I would like your recommendation. At least a point in the right direction, because without a background in this area of law, it's near impossible for a consumer to find someone reputable (I have many years of experience in the legal profession in NYC).

I have lost almost a year already and finally have my case clear of any parasitic legal entities hanging on for blood--I'd like to keep it that way. Recommendations?

Thanks.

I worked for them for over 10yrs and I agree with all you said. But it is only the tip of their iceberg of corruption.

I could go on for hours.

For whatever it's worth, no, I didn't know her. My experience with pretty many of the management was constantly very poor, so it would not surprise me, but I wouldn't necessarily want to slander someone I don't actually know anything about specifically.
